I was nervous to sign up and attend without knowing anyone, but as soon as I arrived, that all melted away because of the warm and welcoming people. Meet Guest Host & Instructor, Sophie

Sophie Sadler is the author of the internationally bestselling cookbook German Home Kitchen, the food blogger behind dirndl kitchen since 2015, and the founder of the online baking course German Pretzel School. She is currently co-developing a sourdough pretzel baking mix with a German company, set to launch in U.S. grocery stores in spring 2026.

Originally from Trier, Germany’s oldest city, Sophie moved to Kansas City in 2009 and soon missed the meals and bakery treats from home. Inspired by her Oma Sieghilde and driven to recreate authentic German flavors with American ingredients, she began perfecting one recipe at a time. Sharing those recipes on her blog eventually led to her cookbook’s 2025 release, which sold out its first print run before launch and topped Amazon charts internationally. Sophie has partnered with brands like Whole Foods, Aldi, West Elm, Wüsthof and the Kansas City Chiefs, and has been featured in outlets such as Woman’s Day, Allrecipes, Tasting Table and NPR’s Good Food. She lives in Kansas City, where she homeschools her three children with her husband Jason and their German au pair.
